LupoGait FAQ
Frequently asked questions about our gait analysis system for dogs
Welcome to the LupoGait FAQ! Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about gait analysis in dogs, the technology and the use of LupoGait.
What is the LupoGait gait analysis system?
LupoGait is a mobile, wireless system for objective and reproducible gait analysis in dogs. It combines state-of-the-art sensors and software to record and analyze movement patterns in detail. The aim is to detect orthopaedic problems at an early stage, support diagnoses and monitor rehabilitation processes.
How does gait analysis with LupoGait work?
After putting on the sensor jacket, the dog is led at a trot. The sensors record precise movement data, which is analysed and visualized in the software.
Which dogs is LupoGait suitable for?
The system is designed for dogs of all breeds and ages – from puppies to senior citizens. Even anxious dogs can be examined without a familiarization period.
Why is gait analysis important for dogs?
Gait analysis makes it possible to detect subtle movement disorders at an early stage – often before they cause visible damage or discomfort. This helps to diagnose orthopaedic problems in good time, adapt treatment plans accordingly and prevent long-term damage to health.
What if dogs move strangely because they still feel uncomfortable in the jacket?
Even if dogs initially show unusual movements, this does not have a negative impact on the analysis. LupoGait records exactly these changes in movement and documents them precisely, which is helpful for diagnosis.
What are the technical requirements for using LupoGait?
The system consists of 6 IMU sensors, a special jacket in various sizes and a tablet with pre-installed software. An internet connection is only required for logging in and updating data.
Is the system weatherproof? What happens when it rains?
This is not a problem. The suits are made of Lycra material and the sensors are water-repellent so that measurements can be taken even in the rain.
How is the LupoGait measurement carried out?
Determine the right jacket size.
Activate the sensors and place them in the jacket.
Start the tablet, open the software and register the dog.
Walk the dog at a trot while the data is being recorded.
How often should I carry out the gait analysis on my dog?
An annual analysis is recommended for preventive examinations. More frequent measurements are advisable for existing problems or during the rehabilitation process.
Which data is collected during the analysis?
The system measures 34 parameters such as stance and swing phases, joint angles, symmetries and ranges of motion.
How long does a measurement take?
The entire measurement takes about 7 – 10 minutes.
What information does the analysis provide?
You receive data on gait patterns, load symmetries, joint movements and compensation patterns. This information helps to diagnose lameness and adapt therapy plans.
Can LupoGait detect preventive problems?
Yes, it identifies subtle movement abnormalities that often occur before visible structural damage.
Can I share the results with other vets or physiotherapists?
Yes, the results can be exported as a PDF and easily shared.
What do I do if the system does not work?
Our support team is available to answer your technical questions and can resolve problems remotely: support@4dvets.com
Are there any training courses on the use of LupoGait?
Yes, we offer interactive webinars and practical introductions to prepare you optimally for using the system.
Are there financing options for the purchase of LupoGait?
We offer leasing options.
Can I test the system before I buy it?
You can experience LupoGait in one of our partner practices or test centers. Contact us to arrange an appointment.
How can muscular problems be distinguished from skeletal problems?
LupoGait analyzes joint angles, symmetries and ranges of motion to distinguish muscular imbalances from skeletal problems.
Can LupoGait help in the diagnosis of neurological problems?
Yes, the system can identify uncoordinated movements and asymmetries that indicate neurological disorders.
Is LupoGait also suitable for the prevention of problems?
Regular gait analyses help to detect subtle deviations in movement at an early stage and to take preventive measures.
